Crete

Fly to the Greek Island of Crete direct from Norwich Airport on a weekly departure between May and October.  As the largest of the Greek Islands its sunny climate offers an average summer temperature of between 20ºC and 26ºC.

This is the home of the most ancient of civilisations in the world, once home to the Minoan Civilisation, the oldest documented culture in Europe you can still feel the ancient traditions and cultures alive today. One of the most popular ancient sites to visit is Knossos, the home of King Minos and the fabled site of the Minotaur and his maze.  The current ruins are not the original palace, which were destroyed in an earthquake, and date to the Bronze Age.

With over 650 miles of coastline featuring endless sandy beaches this is a hotspot of the tourist industry and has been popular with British tourists for years.  Resorts have great transport links, a myriad of cafes, bars and restaurants and plenty of water sports available.  Choose from hiring a jet-ski; small boat; or paddleboard, or enjoy some scuba diving or snorkelling in the sparkling waters off-shore.  Alternatively join an organised excursion, or hire a car, to explore the island further and discover its many hidden gems.
